Art Trade with someone across the sea.

Foraging through Instagram, something caught my eye. An opportunity to trade some of my work with someone else. In this instance, Geneva Lehnert based in Eugene Oregon, USA. After following her wonderful (mostly black and white), very moody and creative moments, I had to take her up on the opportunity. I guess my attention was caught by the tones, the use of natural light, some times a bit of movement.

After exchanging a couple of emails, here's what I have to share ~

From left to right, top to bottom ~ bw monotone sunrays, green thumb, city from above, seagull (winged crusader). All printed on wonderfully thick hahnemühle fine art paper from the wonderful folks Tim & Vanessa at Thirds Fine Art Printing in Melbourne VIC Australia.

I look forward to receiving a handful of her wonderful work :) Credit - @genevalehnert (Instagram)

Essentially Simple

Some quite personal items of mine. Ready for adventures both locally and abroad.

A vintage film camera, two beautifully and thoughtfully handmade goods from local businesses (Melbourne + Brisbane) and a classic set of spectacles.

Canon A1, circa 1978, film my choice. Old-fashioned and a little clunky. The end result is certainly worth it.

Camera strap by Chocolate Brownie Leather (based in Melbourne VIC Australia), natural leather ages beautifully and with loads of character, skilfully crafted by hand.

"The Traveller" by Burwood Handmade (Brisbane Qld Australia), another example of time, thought and skilled craftsmanship. I also love the smell of natural leather.

Spectacles "Oxford" by Oscar Wylee, to help me see things that would otherwise be not easily seen. Black framed nerdish / hipsterish.

Field Notes rule-lined notebook by Field Notes (USA), a simple notebook for the jotting of notes, in the field. Styled, minimalistic design like the olden days. Just before WW2 I think.

Adventure time.

They say that those who haven't travelled have only read one page. I've read a few of this one.

Picked up for a few bucks from a  thrift expo, I started reading it a while ago. Curious. South America, from what I've read and learnt about it's ancient history and modern cultures (partly unchanged). Sparking interest. For about 13 years I've enjoyed rock climbing on the Sunshine Coasts Glasshouse Mountain range. Adventure seeking adrenaline pumping. More mountaineering than climbing and such rare untouched natural landscapes, I look forward to visiting some item hopefully in the not-too distant future.

People, history, culture.
